Our neighborhood
Iconic Venice
Venice Beach is a coastal community established in 1905 by Abbot Kinney. Bohemian, and gritty, it was long established as the home to surfers and artists alike. Today this neighborhood is evolving as it attracts new residents who seek an upscale, beachfront lifestyle. With that change sadly we witness the reverse effect of connectedness. When once neighborhoods banded together with a sense of community pride we are now more apt to witness the construction of tall fences and tight security.
Venice grows
Venice is growing and so are the number of fences, walls and gates. We strive to break down the barriers and find a way for a community to come together.
Why we matter
Evolving Neighborhoods
With a growing population, Los Angeles has experienced an influx of residents and a boom in development. The side effect is a gradual erosion of what were once small neighborly communities.
Venice Expressed is a nonprofit that is focusing on supporting neighborhood projects that aim to unite residents for a common purpose. We wish to overcome the height of fences by bringing neighbors across the boundary of their property lines to once again connect and support each other.
Our volunteers have donated time and supplies in efforts to pick up litter, groom streetscapes and restore community property. We have given to local artists in beautification projects and we will continue to fund purpose built projects for the betterment of communities.
